History

Community Living - Stormont County was originally known as the Cornwall & District Association for Retarded Children. The agency, like most, was founded on the hard work and dedication of parents who wanted a meaningful future for their sons and daughters.

The first official meeting of the Corporation was held on November 26, 1958. On May 1, 1959 classes taught by Mrs. Blanche Buchner were offered to six children at the Trinity Church Hall. From that humble beginning we have grown over the years and now employ 120 full, part-time, and casual employees. At the present time we support 118 adults in a variety of residential and community based vocational and non-vocation activities. In addition, we currently assist 26 children to be integrated in child care centers.
