Michelle Alguire
Executive Director
Michelle has worked 43 years in the Developmental Services Sector, 35 of them with Community Living-Stormont County. Michelle started as a Frontline Worker, worked as a Residential Manager, Assistant Executive Director and for the past 10 years as the Executive Director. Throughout the years she was involved in expanding services for people with a developmental challenge by, moving from segregated programs to community inclusion, ongoing expansion of our accommodation and community supports. She has been involved and continues to work collaboratively with many community partners to ensure that people with a developmental challenge have the right and opportunity to participate fully in an inclusive community.
Bernadette Van Gurp
Assistant Executive Director
Bernadette has worked 43 years in the Developmental Sector, she worked for SD&G Developmental Services as a Manager and has now been with Community Living-Stormont County for the past 10 years as the Assistant Executive Director.
Jantje Helmer
Executive Assistant
Jantje was hired in 1981 and has (over 40 years of service) as the Executive Secretary / now called Executive Assistant to the Executive Director and the Management Team. She has seen many changes that have evolved and made Community Living – Stormont County into what it is today.
Karen Dupelle
Manager
Karen has been with Community Living-Stormont County for 32 years. Her work experience includes the Lifeskills Program, Residential Services, Community Supports, Transitional Aged Youth and she has recently joined our Management Team in April 2022.
Christine Leroux
Manager
Christine has worked in the Early Years sector for over 25 years. She worked as an Educator in Early Learning programs in Kingston, Ottawa and Cornwall. She also worked as a Family Resources Coordinator for the Ontario Early Years program and for 10 years as Program Officer for Children Services with the City of Cornwall.
Christine joined Community Living-Stormont County in 2018 as the Manager of the Early Childhood Integration Consultation Service. Since 2023, Christine took over the responsibility for the Passport Program and works part-time in HR.
Lorrie Tyo
Manager
Lorrie has been employed with Community Living Stormont County since 1999. She has been working in the Developmental Services Sector for over 25 years. She has enjoyed working frontline in most of our Residential settings, as well as Community Support Worker in the Foundations & Transitional Aged Youth Program. She spent 10 years at our SIL Apartments until joining the Management Team in September 2023. Lorrie now oversees the Community Supports Program as well as SIL.
Julie O’Shaughnessy
Manager
Julie has 20 years of experience working in the Developmental Services Sector, ranging from working front line in residential settings to Case Management in Children’s Services. Julie joined Community Living Stormont County’s management team in October 2023. Julie is passionate about providing Individuals with choices and community participation.
Joanne Gates
Administrative Service Manager
Joanne comes with 25 years of experience in finance, 7 of those years in the developmental Sector, at SD&G Developmental Services. She has worked for the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services and also for the public sector.
Joanne joined Community Living-Stormont County in September 2024 as the Administrative Service Manager.
Kelly Varin
Human Resources Manager
Kelly was hired as the Human Resources Manager with Community Living Stormont County in March 2023. She has had the pleasure of working in the non-profit sector in Cornwall for over 20 years. Kelly is passionate about being part of a team that is making a change in our community, and this Team has that same passion! She likes to use creativity to keep up morale and to bring better dynamics to the organization. When she is not at work, you’ll will find her at the rink or dance studio. Kelly lives by the words of Gandhi – “Be the change you wish to see in the world”.
Sara Jackson
Manager
Sara Jackson has worked for 15 years in the mental health field. She holds a Master’s degree in Psychology from Adler University, a certificate in Clinical Traumatology from the Traumatology institute in Toronto and a diploma in Addictions Treatment. Sara worked for 7 years for Isuarsivik Regional Recovery Center in Kuujjuaq, Nunavik, a recovery center specializing in culturally based programming for Inuit and their families suffering from addictions and trauma where she led the development of the Continued Care Services Department. She also worked in the Ottawa Mission’s addictions and trauma services for several years, and was employed for 6 years with OCAPDD. The empowerment of vulnerable populations to heal from trauma and enhance their lives, as well as social justice issues are what she is passionate about. She is a strong advocate for marginalized communities and individuals including the indigenous population.
